Compressed Fiber Gaskets (Formerly known as Non-Asbestos Gaskets)
Munaco has a wide array of compressed fiber gaskets and gasketing materials in stock. Below are a few of the offerings we currently stock in our warehouse.
Compressed fiber gasketing materials are made from organic or inorganic fibers that are bound together by rubber. The combination of fibers and rubber creates a strong gasket that can withstand a variety of temperatures, pressures, and chemicals. Here are some types of compressed fiber gasketing materials:
Aramid fiber: A synthetic polymer that is often used as a replacement for asbestos. Aramid fiber is strong and temperature resistant, and is used in gaskets, hoses, and seals.
Elastomer: An elastomer like NBR or SBR is used as a binder in compressed fiber gasketing materials to provide compressibility.
Inorganic fiber: Inorganic fiber gasketing materials have good thermal stability, reduced creep relaxation, and improved torque retention.
Compressed fiber sheets can be cut into gaskets of almost any size or shape, and can be as thin as 1/32-inch up to 1/4 inch thick.
