Vulcanized o-rings are an economical way for custom sized o-rings to be produced. Cord stock is cut and then and then bonded together to make a contiguous part. There are two options of bonding; glued or hot vulcanzized. Bonded or Vulcanized o-rings are great options for static applications where timeliness and tooling costs can't be justified.
